Manorhaven Boulevard public meeting

The Island Now

The $3 million Manorhaven Boulevard project, funding for which was secured by Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, is finally underway.

Following last summer’s Traffic and Parking Study, DeRiggi-Whitton and representatives from the County’s Department of Public Works recently reviewed preliminary plans with Manorhaven Mayor Jim Avena, Deputy Mayor Priscilla von Roeschlaub and representatives of several community organizations.

“The county’s DPW staff and I are looking forward to working with Mayor Avena and the village on this project that will transform Port Washington’s second main street into a truly terrific destination for shopping, dining and strolling,” DeRiggi-Whitton said.

On Wednesday, June 19, residents will have the opportunity to review and provide input on these preliminary plans prior to the start of Phase I of this project.

A public meeting will take place at Manorhaven Village Hall located at 33 Manorhaven Boulevard from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. “I am eager to hear resident comments and suggestions, some of which will most likely be incorporated into the next planning stage,” Avena said. “This will truly be a joint effort by government and the general public to convert Manorhaven Boulevard into a very special place along Manhasset Bay.”

Because this project requires many steps to completion, as each phase progresses, public comment will continue to be gathered throughout the process. There is no need to reserve a seat, but feel free to contact DeRiggi-Whitton’s office at 516-571-6211 or dderiggiwhitton@nassaucountyny.gov with any questions regarding this or any other project in District 11.
