The Roslyn Rotary Club honored Roslyn High School senior Matthew Berman as the November Student of the Month at their luncheon on Dec. 14.

Berman’s community service has included volunteering at the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center’s Camp Kehilla working with developmentally disabled children. He has also assisted with the Sid Jacobson JCC’s special needs swim program and with Albertson Kickers, a special needs soccer program.

He has volunteered both directly with and behind the scenes at Campaign Against Hunger and Neighbors Helping Neighbors community outreach programs that bring coats, clothing, basic supplies and food to Long Island families in need at critical times during the year.

He founded M.E.D.Rx, a safe meds program with a grant from the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island.

He works with local pharmacies and community centers to serve as collection sites for prescription containers and has them shipped overseas as part of an international relief effort targeting underserved and impoverished areas within Malawi, Africa.

Berman has worked at St. Francis Hospital as a junior volunteer and at New York University Medical Center laboratory as a research associate volunteer.

The Roslyn Rotary Club also honored Roslyn High School senior Davida Farnam as the December Student of the Month for her many hours of community service.

Farnam has volunteered at Chabad of Roslyn in Port Washington, Roslyn Torah Ohr Hebrew Academy and Torah Ohr Hebrew Academy.
