Metropolitan Commercial Bank recently welcomed the Great Neck community to the opening night celebration of the Bank’s sixth Bank on Art Showcase™ event featuring Stepping Stones Lighthouse themed artwork created by student artists from the Great Neck School District’s John F. Kennedy Elementary School.

The evening event shined a light on the advocacy work of the Stepping Stones Lighthouse Foundation and the Great Neck Historical Society’s mission to preserve the iconic, National Register-landmarked Stepping Stones Lighthouse. Joining the young artists were parents, members of Metropolitan Commercial Bank’s Great Neck banking center team, Great Neck Public Schools representatives, and Stepping Stones Lighthouse Foundation and Great Neck Historical Society members.

“Becoming an active member of Great Neck has been an integral part of our mission during our first two-and-a-half years serving the community,” said Ralph Ventura, Metropolitan Commercial Bank vice president and relationship manager. “In previous Bank on Art Showcase™ events we were honored to welcome one Great Neck institution at each event—this evening we welcome both local students and two organizations working to safeguard a piece of our North Shore, Long Island heritage.

“The Bank is thrilled to offer our banking center as a venue in raising awareness of the Stepping Stones Lighthouse preservation efforts.”

Students in the John F. Kennedy Elementary School created paintings, papier-mâché and 3-D structures all replicating the historic Stepping Stones Lighthouse—located in the Long Island Sound just off the Great Neck peninsula. The student artwork, as well as historical information on the Stepping Stones Lighthouse, will remain on display through the summer at the Bank’s Great Neck banking center, located at 111 Great Neck Road.

“What better way to help raise awareness in our community about the Stepping Stones Lighthouse restoration effort than by partnering with Great Neck’s youngest artists to showcase the beauty and uniqueness of our
beloved lighthouse,” said Robert Lincoln, the chairman of the Stepping Stones Lighthouse Foundation and a member of the Great Neck Historical Society’s board of directors. “We thank the team at Metropolitan Commercial Bank for their continued support of all things Great Neck and look forward to our continued partnership.”
