Nassau County Legislature obtains grant funds for junior firefighters

The Nassau County Legislature recently voted to provide hotel/motel grant funding to our Nassau County Junior Firefighters and Camp Fahrenheit.

The grant was sponsored by the majority at the Legislature. Camp Fahrenheit is the only camp of its kind in the country, and junior firefighters from around the country and other nations come here to learn the skills of providing emergency response services.

The Junior Firefighter program has been a success in providing young people with training and interaction with our volunteer firefighters and first responders. The program has led many young people to serve our communities as firefighters and EMTs.
