Throughout November, sixth graders at Garden City Park School and New Hyde Park Road School conducted research on the human body systems with Project Lead the Way teacher Salvatore Giurlanda.

The unit concluded with an interactive gallery walk-through that displayed the students’ work. They created body outlines illustrating various organs in the human body and attached a QR code for others to easily view their projects. Students presented these projects and their findings with a virtual visit with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Marc Ialenti.

“Dr. Ialenti offered an opportunity for our students to learn more about the different facets of the medical profession and offered opportunities to ask questions from their research,” Mr. Giurlanda said.
