New Hyde Park Memorial Model United Nations wins at Rutgers

The New Hyde Park Memorial High School Model United Nations team competed at the 2017 Rutgers University Model United Nations conference from Nov. 30-Dec. 3.

The conference brought together more than 1,200 delegates from all over the Northeast. Led by delegates Amanda Saji, Danielle Schwartz and Logan Ward, the students debated global issues focusing on eradicating the disparities between the developing and developed worlds.

Claire Jung and Jasmine Choi, who were recognized for excellence in their committee and winning the award for best overall position paper.

Bernard Laugen advises the New Hyde Park Model UN team. Also accompanying students was chaperone Jennie Burkhard. Up next, the team will travel to Washington, D.C., to compete at the American University Model United Nations conference in February 2018.
