The third and newest installation of Residents Forward’s Port Washington Mural Project, “Remember the Unforgettable,” will be unveiled on Saturday, June 2. Sponsored by Delux Transportation, this mural pays tribute to Port Washington’s military, police and fire service people who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The whole community is encouraged to attend this free event, which will feature a flag salute performed by Port Washington First Responders, along with patriotic music and red, white and blue refreshments. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. alongside the new mural, which is located on a side of Delux Transportation’s wall in the Long Island Railroad parking lot.

Local designer and artist Michelle Shain designed the mural and has been painting it with local artist Lori Lee.

“The first two murals unveiled last year celebrated Port Washington’s beautiful landscape. This mural is so special because it celebrates our community’s heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting us,” Residents Forward Executive Director Mindy Germain said. “We hope to see many active and retired service people at the unveiling.”

The Port Washington Mural Project is a Residents Forward initiative to bring the pride in Port Washington to the walls of Main Street. Contact Residents Forward at 516-767-9151 or info@pwresidents.org for more information.
