Prior to the game, a special ribbon cutting was held for the newly finished turf field and stadium lighting at Hampton Stadium. Board of Education President Christine Napolitano, along with members of the board, student body and administration cut the ceremonial ribbon.

In its first homecoming game held in the evening under the new lights, the Mustangs took on the Island Trees Bulldogs. They were victorious with a 15-13 win over the Bulldogs.
