North Hempstead reopens spray pads at town parks

The Island Now

North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board have announced that the spray pads located at town parks have now reopened.

The spray pads located at Blumenfield Park, Broadway Park, Donald Street Park, and Mary Jane Davies Green will be opened daily from 9 a.m. to sunset.

Earlier this month, the town reopened playgrounds in accordance with New York State guidelines.

Attendance at the spray pads and playgrounds will be monitored and hours of operation may be adjusted according to help adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Town parks are open for passive use including the beaches at Manorhaven Beach Park and North Hempstead Beach Park. Fees for beaches and parks have been waived for the summer due to the pandemic.

Additionally, beaches are presently operating at a 50 percent capacity and remain limited to Nassau County residents only.

The Town reminds residents to continue to maintain social distancing guidelines and stay six feet apart.

In addition, in accordance with New York State guidelines, visitors should wear a mask when outside to help maintain the health and safety of others.
