The Town of North Hempstead “Blankets of Love” senior group crafted 30 blankets for the town’s Veterans Donation Drive, benefitting the Northport VA.
Blankets of Love is a crocheting and knitting group formed by Project Independence members. The group provides an opportunity for senior residents in the community to come together and work in a collaborative manner on a meaningful and rewarding project.
The group has donated blankets to other organizations, including United Veterans Beacon House, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Mama’s House, Bethany House, Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease.
Blankets of Love meet on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Those interested in more information on the program can call 516-869-6311.
