The North Shore Legislative Night will take place on Thursday, Jan. 18 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Glenwood Landing School Theatre.
The event is hosted by the Legislative Action Committee, a citizen’s advisory committee of the North Shore Board of Education. The snow date is Feb. 1.
Residents will have an opportunity to hear from their elected officials on issues that are relevant to the district and the community. Legislators will present brief introductory remarks and then participate in a question and answer session.
The invited legislators include state senators Carl Marcellino, Elaine Phillips; and state assembly members Charles Lavine, Edward Ra and Michael Monesano; and Nassau County legislators Delia DeRiggi Whitton, and Joshua Lafazan.
Potential topics are the opioid crisis, APPR and teacher evaluations, state aid and foundation aid, the state tax cap and its effect on public education, unfunded mandates, PILOTS and their effect on school budgets, and New York American Water.
