What is Orangetheory Fitness

Orangetheory is a 1-hour, full-body workout. It focuses on heart rate-based training with an emphasis on endurance, strength and power. It is backed by science and proven to burn more calories post-workout. You’re tracked by technology so you and your certified fitness coach can monitor your results in real time. Each and every workout is inspired and led by our coaches to make sure that you don’t over or under train. 

Studio Information

Unlike typical gyms, Orangetheory Fitness follows a reservation-based model. Classes start as early as 5 am and end as late as 9:30 pm. The studio is open 7 days a week throughout the year, except on Christmas Day. Typical class size is thirty participants; some could be less or more based on demand.

Owner Background

Marian and Baldur Dujmovits successfully own and operate two other Orangetheory Fitness Studios both located in the Town of North Hempstead. The Carle Place studio is ~5.5 years old (opened in January 2016), while Garden City Park is about ~3 years old (opened in August 2018). They are excited at the chance to bring this amazing product to New Hyde Park and add value to North Shore Commons and the community. Each studio adds approximately 15 to 20 new jobs (from certified coaches to sales associates and studio managers).

As some background, both owners grew up in New Hyde Park and are no strangers to the area. In fact, many years ago, Baldur delivered PennySavers in the blocks that surround North Shore Commons. He was also employed by the Town of North Hempstead Park Department as a lifeguard and held more senior positions like Assistant Facility Supervisor for Clinton G. Martin Pool and Manorhaven Beach Park & Pool. New Hyde Park and the Town of North Hempstead are near and dear to their hearts and they look forward to this opportunity.

  • Orangetheory Fitness provides both in studio and out of studio options. In studio formats typically consist of the traditional 60-minute workout, but there are other options like Lift 45 classes and Run/Row classes. Out of studio options include Orangetheory At Home Workouts and, in select areas, Orangetheory Live which gives members the opportunity to workout anywhere in a group setting with a fitness coach in real-time.

The 5 Heart Rate Zones

During our heart-rate based HIIT workout, your coach will guide you through our 5 different heart rate zones: resting, easy, challenging, uncomfortable and All Out, telling you when to push harder and when to pull back for recovery. The goal is to spend 12 minutes or more with your heart rate elevated in “The Orange Zone” to boost your metabolism, burn fat and burn more calories.

01 Rowing

Every stroke on the rower activates 85% of your body’s muscles to help you improve endurance, strength and power.

02 Cardio

Whether you walk, jog or run, you’ll go at your own pace based on your fitness level. We also have bikes and striders available as alternates to the treadmill.

03 Strength Training

Our weight and floor exercises change daily so you can focus on different muscles. Your coach can provide options for any movement if you have injuries or limitations.
