Animals and people alike had a howling good time at Hicks Nurseries’ Pet Parade & Costume Competition in Westbury. The event, held on Wednesday Oct. 18, drew more than 50 dogs and three cats along with countless pet owners.

The pets were led down a path by their proud families past a judge table, where they stopped to show off their creative costumes. Along the path customers cheered the pets on. Dog breeds at the event included bulldogs, terriers, chihuahuas, yorkies, poodles and more.

The winners of a $25 gift card to Hicks Nurseries for being the best dressed included:
1st Place: Otis, a bulldog from Floral Park dressed as the Pope.
2nd Place: Butters, a French bulldog from Port Washington dressed as Aladdin.
3rd Place: Payton, a golden retriever from Wantagh dressed as an inmate, pulled in a wagon by his owners dressed as police officers.
