State Sen. Elaine Phillips was recently invited to meet with the Manhasset Secondary School Feminism Club to discuss the importance of leadership, community involvement and women in government.

“Organizations such as the Manhasset High School Feminism Club are paramount for not only giving students a voice, but for raising awareness, encouraging leadership and empowering young women,” Phillips said. “As a woman and mother of three daughters, I understand the importance of ensuring women continue to have equal opportunities across the spectrum, including the political arena. I applaud all of the students for taking an interest in local and state government and for working to create equality for women.”

The Manhasset High School Feminism Club was founded in 2015 and has approximately 25 current members that meet and discuss a wide variety of issues concerning students and women’s social and political issues.
