Plant a Row honored by Helen Keller National Center

The Island Now

The Plant a Row for the Hungry Program was honored along with other sponsors at the annual breakfast at the Helen Keller National Center.

The group planted a new 25-foot by 30-foot organic vegetable garden along with student residents from HKNC and is a Girl Scout Gold Award project.

Although the growing season is near its end, the organization is still harvesting from this garden. So far, more than 200 pounds of produce has been harvested. The produce was delivered to the HKNC kitchen and to the Our Lady of Fatima Church Outreach Program.

The painted planters in the garden were created by the student residents.
