The Island Now

The Lutheran Church of Our Savior will host the 78th annual Port Washington Community Thanksgiving service on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 4:30 p.m.

The congregations that will be participating are the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, the Community Synagogue, the Lutheran Church, Mount Olive AME Church, Our Lady of Fatima, the Port Jewish Center, the Reconstructionist Synagogue of the North Shore, St. Peter’s of Alcantara Roman Catholic Church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal, Temple Beth Israel and the United Methodist Church. Others are welcome to join in.

The Reverend John K. Lardes, protopresbyter of the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, will deliver the Thanksgiving message. A free will offering designated to be shared by the Community Chest of Port and the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) will be received.

The Thanksgiving service is held every year at a different location. Please join with friends and neighbors in celebrating everything we have and the special town we all call Port Washington.

The Lutheran church is located at 12 Franklin Ave. Parking is available on-street and in the western Long Island Railroad lot, which is free on Sundays.
