PUSH Theatre presents ‘Dracula’ at the Sands Point Preserve

The Island Now

The Sands Point Preserve Conservancy presents PUSH Physical Theatre’s production of “Dracula,” an original movement-based interpretation of Bram Stoker’s classic tale of seduction, desire, and madness, on Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. in Castle Gould’s Black Box Theatre.

PUSH, also known as the “masters of motion theatre,” created this unique, acrobatic spectacle, which will be adapted specifically for this historic Gold Coast mansion. Choreography and the spoken word are used to create this ground-breaking and thrilling portrayal of one of literature’s most famous villains.

PUSH founder Darren Stevenson plays the title role of Dracula, and his wife, Heather, portrays the legendary vampire’s love interest, Lucy.

“PUSH’s ‘Dracula’ asks questions about life and death, spirituality, sexuality, and moral absolutes,” Stevenson said, “It’s about the nature of fear. The line between love and obsession is difficult to detect. If [Dracula] really loves [Lucy], is he willing to ruin her in order to have her?”

Seating is very limited.
