On May 19 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sid Jacobson JCC will host Home Away from Home: Dorm Decor and College Essentials Showcase. The pop-up showcase, in partnership with Blue-Prynt, will provide tips and solutions to make the transition to college an easy and joyful experience for both students and their parents.

“SJJCC is excited to host the first of its kind pop-up college showcase event for students going off to college and their parents. Our collaboration with Blue-Prynt and Empty Quester promises to address the needs of families going through this important milestone and emotionally charged life transition,” says Jodi Adler, director of the Irene & Ronald Cohen Center for Parent Engagement and Education. “We will have a host of experts on everything college related. It promises to be informative and fun.”

Throughout the afternoon attendees will have the opportunity to have questions answered at a panel hosted by Donna Korren of Empty Quester, featuring Frances Lacefield, owner of Room 422; Sydney Steele, student and artist specializing in wall art; Norman Fried, an author, psychologist and professor; and Jill Madenberg, an author and college consultant.

Attendees will also be able to tour the latest trends in dorm décor at a design showcase presented by the curated décor website Blue-Prynt, and to meet with local designers for college dorm room decorating tips.

Products from merchants and curators including Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond, Bloomingdales, Dormify, Target, Wayfair, and more, will be showcased.
