The Sierra Club Long Island Group has once again endorsed the candidacy of Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton. In a letter confirming this highly-regarded environmental organization’s support for the legislator, they wrote, “Our endorsement is based on your demonstrated commitment to environment protection and our expectation that, going forward, you will continue to work diligently to preserve and enhance Long Island’s precious environmental resources.”

Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton is very honored by the Sierra Club’s endorsement. As a self-proclaimed “tree hugger,” she is a staunch advocate for clean water measures, conserving water and other precious resources, reducing nitrogen runoff, replacing cesspools with sewers and/or nitrogen-reducing alternative options, saving trees and more. “I am proud to have received Sierra Club’s endorsement for my candidacy,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “It is an exceptional honor that this long-standing and esteemed organization recognizes our work over the years that continually improves upon land, air and water resource protection and conservation for today’s and future generations.”
