A special Women’s Seder to celebrate Passover was conducted by the Women of Reform Judaism Sisterhood recently.

More than 50 women participated in a Seder service followed by a delicious Passover dinner catered by Hasson Caterers. The Seder was led by Student Cantor Mariel Guarrera-Ashkenazy.

The women used an original Haggadah which was designed by Lauren Chizner. This special Haggadah told the story of Passover while incorporating the names of Jewish women who contributed to the spiritual, intellectual and social life of the Jewish people.

It included Jewish Biblical heroines such as Miriam, Sarah, Hannah and Ruth, as well as modern-day heroines such as Golda Meir, Bella Abzug, Hannah Arendt, Henrietta Szold and Ruth Bader Ginsberg. A beautiful work by Anne Frank who perished in the Holocaust as a young and heroic girl was included in the readings.

Women of all generations joined together for the Women’s Seder to begin the Passover season with powerful readings and beautiful songs led by Student Cantor Mariel.
