Town hosts youth basketball clinic and book fairies events at Yes We Can Community Center

Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Council Member Viviana Russell, and the Town Board have announced two fall youth events for children at the “Yes We Can” Community Center in Westbury.

“We are always looking to develop fun and engaging programs for residents of all ages in the Town of North Hempstead,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “This fall, we are proud to offer a book giveaway with the Book Fairies and a basketball clinic in partnership with the Long Island Nets and the Sports and Safety Team from HSS.”

“These events provide terrific opportunities to meet new friends and engage with fellow community members,” said Council Member Russell. “The ‘Yes We Can’ Community Center always has exciting and unique events, with something new virtually every month of the year.”

Book Fairies
The Town will be partnering with the Book Fairies to celebrate their 3 millionth book giveaway. Residents can stop by to pick up a free book at the “Yes We Can” Community Center. Additionally, they will partner with the Town to provide books for afterschool summer camp and special events.

Friday, Oct. 22 at 4:30 p.m. at the Yes We Can Community Center (141 Garde Street, Westbury)

Basketball Clinic:
The Town will be partnering with the Long Island Nets to host a basketball clinic for residents of North Hempstead.

Friday, Oct. 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Yes We Can Community Center (141 Garden Street, Westbury) the clinic for children ages 6-14.

Space is limited. All basketball clinic participants will be required to follow New York State Guidelines for Sports and Recreation. The Town will be re-evaluating safety guidelines and safety restrictions are subject to change. Pre-registration is required for the clinic, please visit LongIslandNets.com
