Town officials attend Port Rowing fundraiser

Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Council Member Dina De Giorgio attended the Friends of Port Rowing Gala on Friday, Feb. 1 at the Mansion at the Village Club of Sands Point. 

Proceeds from the gala went toward benefiting the Friends of Port Rowing Scholarship Fund.  Friends of Port Rowing is a not-for-profit organization established in 2010 to promote rowing in the surrounding waters as well as support Port Rowing which is a community rowing club that serves all of Long Island. 

Bosworth and De Giorgio presented a proclamation to the evening’s honoree, Mitch Tamkin, who was honored for his dedication and commitment to Port Rowing. Tamkin was also the recipient of the 2018 U.S. Rowing Jack Kelly Award that recognizes those who have made superior achievements in rowing and service to amateur athletics.

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi–Whitton (D-Glen Cove) were also in attendance.
