Great Neck Library Seeking Prospective Candidates
for Board of Trustees and Nominating Committee
Take the opportunity to participate in the process that largely determines the services and programs that the Great Neck Library offers to the community. Consider running for a position on the Board of Trustees or Nominating Committee, and be a part of the future of the Library.
The next Great Neck Library election will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018. There will be seven seats expiring in January 2019. Four of these seats are on the Board of Trustees (Robert Schaufeld, Joel Marcus, as well as the remaining term for the seat currently held by Josie Pizer (2021) and the remaining term for the recently vacated seat held by Francine Ferrante Krupski (2020). Three seats are on the Nominating Committee (Donald Panetta and Howard Esterces, as well as the remaining term for the seat currently vacated by Sam Gottlieb (2021).
Any nominee for a position on the Board of Trustees or the Nominating Committee must be a member of the Great Neck Library Association or a registered voter with the Nassau County Board of Elections by the Record Date of Oct. 1, 2018.

Library Closings
All Great Neck Library locations will be closed on Sunday, May 27 and Monday, May 28 for Memorial Day Weekend.
Saturday Movie Matinee at Parkville
Enjoy a screening of a popular children’s film once a month at 1 p.m. at the Parkville Branch, 10 Campbell Street (off Lakeville Road), New Hyde Park. The upcoming film will be screened on Saturday, May 26.

The next Wednesday Matinee at Main, about ice-skater Tonya Harding, will be shown on Wednesday, May 30 at 2 p.m. at the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.
Parkville Book Club

SAT Crash Course at Station Branch
If you are a teen who is getting ready to take the June SAT, then the SAT Crash Course might be for you. This course will be given on Thursday, May 31 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Station Branch, 26 Great Neck Road (second level), above Best Market, Gardens at Great Neck Plaza. A Curvebreakers Test Prep instructor will go over strategies, tips, and tricks for each section of the SAT exam. There will also be time for student questions. Advanced registration required for teens in grades nine and above with teen’s own library card.
CLUE: The Musical
Theatre Performance at Levels Teen Center at Main
Levels will perform the interactive Off-Broadway hit “CLUE: The Musical” on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 31, June 1 and June 2 at 8 p.m. in The Levels Teen Center on the lower level of the Great Neck Library’s Main Building, 159 Bayview Avenue in Great Neck.
Levels, the Library’s cultural center for teenagers established in 1974, presents several fully-staged theatrical productions a year. Levels’ productions are traditionally directed, produced and performed by students in seventh grade through college-age.
“CLUE: The Musical” is an all-singing, all-dancing version of the classic Parker Brothers board game, featuring the world’s best-known murder suspects – Professor Plum, Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Mrs. White. It’s also an interactive theatre experience where the audience is invited to solve the mystery of who killed Mr. Boddy, in what room and with what weapon. With 216 possible endings, it’s a different show every night.
The student production staff includes choreographer Kate Smolens and producer Tyler Brechner. Set design is by Molly Racsko, costume design by Rebecca Hirschhorn, lighting design/set construction by Tyler Hakimian, makeup/hair design by Rayna Cooke and Daisy Korman and publicity art by Aliza Fine.
The cast of high school and middle school students includes Jack Brenner, Joy Chang, Sara Chitsaz, Simona Fine, Phoebe Gordon, Dana Kagan, Julian Malater, Sara Rafaeil and Kevin Wang.
Admission is free and open to the public. Tickets are intended to guarantee seating as space is limited. They can be requested at the circulation desks of all Great Neck Library facilities while they last. Doors open 45 minutes before showtime for ticketholders and 15 minutes before showtime for non-ticketholders. English as a Second Language Conversation Class with Lisa Greenwald at Main
Join Lisa Greenwald for an ESL conversation class on Friday, June 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Small Multipurpose Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.
Lisa began an ESL conversation class last year at the Parkville Branch of the Great Neck Library, and the Manhasset Public Library, focusing on conversation skills while incorporating correct grammar and pronunciation. No registration required.
