The Wheatley School senior Michael Medvedev has signed a letter of commitment to continue his academic and tennis career at Williams College, which is a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Medvedev, a nationally ranked United States Tennis Association player, has been playing tennis since the age of 3, following in the footsteps of his mother who played competitively in Moscow and at Oklahoma State University.

He is a returning senior captain for the Wheatley Wildcats, and a returning All Conference member of the boys varsity tennis team. He helps to organize practices and take care of pre-game responsibilities.

He was a major contributor to the Wildcats 2017 second place finish in Conference II A, and he finished his junior campaign undefeated during the regular season. This year, Medvedev will lead by effort, attitude and example hoping to carry the young team to the Nassau County Tennis Championships.

Medvedev is also in the National Honor Society and recognized as an AP Scholar with Honors.

Medvedev is also the founder of a nonprofit organization, Serve4Underserved, which brings tennis equipment and clothing to the youth and communities in underserved neighborhoods in the tri-state New York area. He also volunteers and teaches tennis at the Kings County Tennis League and at the Maria Sharapova and Friends Charity Event.

Medvedev’s academic scholarship and athletic prowess will allow him to continue his pursuit of excellence at Williams College.
