Women for Singas and nuBest are collaborating on an event that will bring together women to share in some fun beauty services while hearing from Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas of Manhasset on what her office is focused on, namely the opioid epidemic, gangs and corruption, and how she is keeping our community safe.

Women for Singas co-founder Charlene Prounis said the event came about because nuBest believes in empowering women and wants to support civic minded women in achieving that goal.
The event from 7 to 9 p.m. May 21 will be one that mixes substance with fun and a little bit of beauty.
In addition to talking directly with Singas and hearing her speak on a some important issues, the group will be treated to mini spa services, learn about current trends in beauty, enjoy some delicious treats and coffees from our wonderful new and civically-involved neighbor, For Five Coffee Roasters, and leave with a special gift bag and a $25 coupon for future services.
Suggested contribution is $100, and attendees are encouraged to bring a young woman between 18 and 30 in your life to get involved.
“Our hope is to encourage women of all ages to get more involved in the issues that impact their lives,” Prounis said.
Women for Singas has started a bi-partisan movement in Manhasset that Prounis said she hopes will spread across Long Island to get women better informed and more engaged in the issues that affect our families, our communities and our nation. Women for Singas held its first incredibly successful event last month is now working on several others throughout the county.
The group hopes to build on the tremendous momentum created since Nassau County’s first female County Executive Laura Curran was elected in November, and the strong showing of elected women as town supervisors in both North Hempstead with Judi Bosworth and Hempstead with Laura Gillen as well as state Sen. Elaine Phillips.
Under Singas’ leadership, the district attorney’s office has cracked down on drug trafficking, and is tackling the heroin and opioid epidemic with a comprehensive three-pronged strategy of enforcement, treatment and prevention, captured the Northeast’s top MS-13 gang leader.
