Couple arrested for alleged possession of $1.3 million worth of meth

An Arizona couple was arrested for allegedly possessing 22 pounds of meth following a traffic stop n the Lake Success area on Saturday night, according to state police.

Officers stopped Francisco Perez, 27, and Sandra Parra, 36, who were driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee for speeding and taillight issues on the Northern State Parkway near exit 25, the state police said.

Police said they then found several pounds of meth, which could be worth over $1 million.

“This investigation resulted in the removal of a large quantity of a dangerous drug that was destined for the streets of Nassau County, with an estimated street value of 1.3 million dollars,” Major David Candelaria of the New York State Police said.

“The New York State Police and our partner agencies will continue to attack the illicit trafficking of dangerous narcotics into our community.”

Perez and Para were charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, which are both felonies.

The duo will be arraigned at the First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.
