John J. Daly Elementary School fourth graders in Mr. Eisen’s class have recently been learning about story development and peer editing. Students are learning how to incorporate different elements into their stories to captivate their readers, and to add depth to their story arcs. Students use worksheets and templates to plan out their stories and then work collaboratively to share their story elements and give helpful and useful feedback to their peers.

This collaborative teamwork helps the district teach students how to work well together, preparing them for projects throughout the rest of their educational careers. Creative writing also helps students to express themselves and leverage the more creative aspects of their minds and personalities.
