Students at John Lewis Childs School created special gifts for patients and families at the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island when they took part in the school’s 10th annual Day of Giving before the holiday recess.

Students were encouraged to earn $2 by doing chores over the Thanksgiving break. They then donated the money to purchase materials to make their special project. Each grade partnered with another grade to create the special gifts, which included toiletry bags, holiday cards and handcrafted bookmarks. Books were also donated to the organization. In addition, pre-K students collected toys that were donated to Anna House at Belmont.

Principal Susan Fazio said the hope of Day of Giving is that children will experience the wonderful feeling of contributing to others.
