The Pixies with Special Guests Sunflower Bean

Alternative-rock band The Pixies’ jarring pop sound that combines psychedelia, hard rock and surf rock has influenced groups such as Nirvana, Radiohead and Weezer.  At this concert performance, they will be joined by Brooklyn rock band Sunflower Bean.

Matthew Sweet at Landmark

Saturday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. 

Matthew Sweet emerged in 1991 as the leading figure of the American power pop revival, with a sound that was an amalgam of the Beatles, Big Star, R.E.M., and Neil Young.  Performing his classics, as well as songs from his new album, Forever Tomorrow, Sweet will be joined on stage by Tommy Keene.

Chapter Two Art Exhibit

Jones Beach Laid Back Festival in the Spirit of Gregg Allman

Jones Beach closes out its summer concert series with this traveling celebration of food and music founded by Allman, who passed away in May.  The music lineup includes Jackson Browne, Steve Winwood, Peter Wolf, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band and Garland Jeffreys.
