A new season at the Queensborough Performing Arts Center is about to begin on Oct. 1.

The exciting roster of shows features over 25 special presentations including the Moscow Festival Ballet’s production of “Giselle;” “Teatro Lirico D’Europa: Madama Butterfly;” “New Shanghai Circus;” and appearances by such legendary artists as Chita Rivera, Robert Klein, Debbie Boone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Clint Holmes and Tony Orlando.

Broadway veterans Craig A. Meyer and Donnie Kehr will pay tribute to the giants of pop music, Piano Men Elton John and Billy Joel, while Shades of Bublé, the season’s opening show, will pay tribute to Grammy award-winning neo-crooner Michael Bublé.

Also appearing are Taylor Dayne and Darlene Love, both megastars as recording artists and actors on Broadway, as well as in film and television.

The cultural highlight of the season is Lezginka, a 40-member dance company that represents the highly diverse region of Daghestan, Russia. The program features a brilliant array of costumes, wild acrobatics and even swordplay.

Back by popular demand is America’s greatest big band music review, In the Mood, which will present a 1940’s retro musical featuring In the Mood singers and dancers and the sensational String of Pearls big band orchestra.

Also back by popular demand, the North Country Center for the Arts’ National Touring Company will present “A Christmas Carol.”

Changing channels, Kim Russo, The Happy Medium, will captivate audiences with her renowned ability to communicate with spirit entities.

Adding a new twist to the season’s roster this year is actor Chris Lemmon, who will channel his legendary actor dad, Jack Lemmon in a “Twist of Lemmon.”

Audiences will thrill to see “The Broadway Dolls,” a high voltage review spotlighting some of Broadway’s biggest female stars.

Dancin’ Broadway, a multi-media spectacular, will celebrate Broadway’s biggest hits from Broadways biggest blockbusters.

Kol Esperanza, considered an international phenomenon, is an Israeli-based operatic pop ensemble with astonishing vocal versatility. They will be making their New York debut following their successful tours in Israel, Germany and Central America.

The exceptional jukebox musical, “The Wonderful Wizard of Song,” features the classic songs by the iconic composer Harold Arlen, hosted by his son, Sam Arlen.

The harmony group Ball in the House mixes the sounds of pop, R&B, and even hip hop music to create a unique, eclectic song set.

And that’s not all, this season QPAC opens THE SHOWROOM, an intimate 250-seat cabaret theater on campus, just a few steps away from QPAC’s main entrance.

THE SHOWROOM, fully equipped with theatrical lighting, sound and unobstructed stadium seating, will provide a prime space for music and comedy. Making this space even more special, all of the seats are no more than 40 feet from the performers.

“This year we are giving you more ways to experience the best of what life has to offer with an expanded season of special events.

While the Broadway theaters in Manhattan and the regional theaters in Queens are usually thought of as separate worlds, if you look at the artists who have appeared here, and those scheduled this season, you’ll agree that QPAC has bridged that gap. Join us for a season you won’t forget,” said Susan Agin, QPAC executive and artistic director.
