Families are invited to the 3rd Annual CreARTive at The Art Guild, on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The open house at Nassau County’s Elderfields Preserve features a full day’s worth of free, art-related activities such as tie-dyeing, simple printmaking, painting, clay hand-building and more.

The projects are geared for children ages 5 through 12, but all ages are invited to attend.

CreARTive will take place inside Elderfields in the event of rain.

“Our art classes for kids are fun and educational,” said Associate Executive Director Susan Herbst. “Our teachers are amazing professionals who come up with creative projects every week all year long. We’d like to reach out to parents, schools and the community to let them know that we offer fun, reasonably priced art classes for students of all ages — from kindergarten through high school, as well as college and beyond.”

Upcoming workshops for adults include Simple and Sophisticated Relief Printing on Sept. 9 and 10; Painting the Floral Still Life in Oil with Gregg Kreutz on Sept. 16 and 17; Colored Pencil with Kristy Kutch on April 20 and 21, 2018; and Expressive Pastels with Karen Margulis on Oct. 26 and 28, 2018.

More classes and workshops are added throughout the year.

A call for artists has gone out for the next gallery exhibit, “Face and Figure,” with the deadline for submissions on Aug. 11.

The juror of awards for the exhibit will be award-winning artist, Diana DeSantis.

The show will be on view from Sept. 2 to Oct. 1, with an Artist’s Reception scheduled for Friday, Sept. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Elderfields Preserve is located at 200 Port Washington Blvd. in Manhasset.
