Ballet troupe to present Nutcracker L.I.

The Island Now

Fadeyev Ballet is presenting “Nutcracker Long Island” at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater at the Landmark on Main Street on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m.
This production is choreographed by Yaroslav Fadeyev, artistic director, which will feature music by Tchaikovsky and the original story by E.T.A Hoffmann, according to a press release from the Fadeyev Ballet.
This performance is a student production and has been created and priced for family audiences.
In 1987, Yaroslav “Slava” Fadeyev was selected as one of seven students from the Soviet Union to participate in the Peace Child Exchange Program in the United States and the Soviet Union.
This experience gave Fadeyev his first inspiration for dance.
Born in to a ballet family, his mother was a master teacher at St. Petersburg University of the Humanities and Social Sciences, principal dancer at Mikhailovsky Theater, and an honored artist of the Russian Federation.
Trained at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in St. Petersburg Russia, Yaroslav began a career that has culminated as a teacher, coach, director and expert on the Vaganova Method of Classical Ballet.
His career highlights include dancing professionally with Kirov Ballet of the Mariinsky Theater, Hartford Ballet and the Metropolitan Opera Ballet.
The theater is located at 232 Main Street, Port Washington.
Tickets are $18 and $15 for children ages twelve and under and can be purchased online at FadeyevBallet.org.
The theater is accessible for all audiences and arrangements can be made for those with special needs.
