Cheesemaking for beginners

The art of cheesemaking dates back thousands of years! Join this introductory, hands-on class on Tuesday, March 24 from 6 – 8:15 p.m., as you are guided through this rich history and teach you the science behind your curds and whey. Students will practice making two types of soft cheese and leave with samples, recipes, and clear instructions to confidently make cheese in their own kitchens. Note: Adult Education at Queens Farm is open to ages 18 & older.

Instructor Carol Johnson is a New York City-based cook and an American Cheese Society Certified Cheese Professional. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY she has pursued food through the lens of nutrition, catering, education, professional kitchens, importing, and sales. Carol owns and operates Monger’s Palate in Greenpoint, where she shares her love of cheese with the NYC community.
