“Clamtastic” fun at LICM

The Island Now

Long Island Children’s Museum will unveil a new show for children, “Happy As Clams — The Musical” on Tuesday, Dec. 12 through Friday, Dec. 15 at 10:15 a.m. and 12 p.m.

The musical adventure, with musical arrangements by Brian Smith, is set in Long Island’s Great South Bay.

Meet Clammy the Clam who confesses she is not “happy as a clam,” and sets out to find happiness by wishing on a star.  Clammy and her best friend Grabby the fiddler crab, learn about creating friendships when they befriend a love-struck fluke, float with a jellyfish, and stumble upon a hungry sea star.

Children can join the cast for a STEAM-filled story as they learn about creatures of the Great South Bay.  Written by award-winning family performer, journalist and Long Islander Lena Pennino Smith, the show is sure to have audiences singing, dancing, and clamoring for more while sneaking in a lesson about environmental science and geography.

Presented with permission of Songs By Lena, the production is for children 3 years and up.

The fee is $9 with museum admission ($7 for LICM members).

The Long Island Children’s Museum is located at 11 Davis Ave. in Garden City.
