Community forum on future of energy in Nassau County

Blank Slate Media and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock will be hosting an on the record Community Forum on the future of energy in New York and the state’s ambitious climate – and how it will affect us all.

The event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 48 Shelter Rock Road in Manhasset.

The panel will include state Sen. Todd Kaminsky, the state Senate sponsor of the legislation recently approved by Gov. Andrew Cuomo; Marjaneh Issapour, Professor of electrical and computer tech Farmingdale State College; Michael Voltz, director of energy efficiency and renewables for PSEG Long Island; and Ruth Coffey, visiting assistant professor in the Environmental Studies Program at Adelphi University.

New York State is set to approve an ambitious climate plan, pledging to eliminate net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 with all its electricity coming from carbon-free resources. Hear what the experts think and learn how you will be affected.

Steven Blank, editor and publisher of Blank Slate Media, will question the panelists in the first half of the forum followed by questions from attendees.
