The Counterclockwise Ensemble to play the Sky Room Cafe

The Island Now

The Counterclockwise Ensemble is a guitar, strings, and percussion quintet that plays contemporary American chamber music. Evoking the mood and spirit of both European and American classical masterpieces, the group takes audiences on a sonic journey that draws much of its inspiration from the natural beauty of the American landscape in full bloom.

These virtuoso musicians represent a fresh and dynamic blend of classical, world/folk, Americana and rock music. The current ensemble includes founding members Rich Stein (guitar), Andrew and Rebecca Perea (violin and cello), Glen Saunders (double bass) and Jim Mansfield (percussion).

Equally at home in a variety of genres, the group primarily plays the compositions of Stein, sprinkling in pieces by Copland, Mozart and Led Zeppelin, as well as traditional American tunes, into their sets.

You can join The Counterclockwise Ensemble in the Cinema Arts Centre’s Sky Room Cafe for free on Sunday, Nov. 26 and by purchasing tickets on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. for a unique listening experience that combines the intimacy and instrumentation of chamber music with the energy and vitality of a rock concert.

The Cinema Arts Centre is located at 423 Park Ave. in Huntington.
