All members of the community are invited to view Temple Emanuel’s “virtual” SCW Friday night service in celebration of Israel Independence, April 16, 2021 at 7:30 p.m., when journalist Peter Beinart and NY1 anchor Errol Louis engage in lively dialogue.
Peter Beinart is an American columnist, journalist, and political commentator. A former editor of The New Republic (1999-2006), he has written for Time, The New York Times, and The New York Review of Books among other periodicals.
He is also the author of three books: “The Good Fight,” “The Icarus Syndrome” and “The Crisis of Zionism.”
He is a professor of journalism and political science at The Newmark School of Journalism at the City University of New York.
He is also editor-at-large of Jewish Currents, a non-resident fellow at the Foundation for Middle East Peace and a CNN political commentator. He has appeared on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” “Meet the Press,” “The Colbert Report” and many other television programs.
Errol Louis is NY1 news anchor, host of Inside City Hall, and a CNN political analyst.
The dialogue is preceded by a service of tribute to the State of Israel conducted by Rabbi Robert S. Widom and cantorial soloist Ron Morton.
