Tango Shalom opened in theatres in N.Y. and L.A. Labor Day weekend and is now is playing at the Manhasset Theatre, Malverne and AMC Raceway theatres in Long Island.

Great Neck native Judi Beecher will be present at a meet and greet at the Manhasset theater on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 2.15 pm after the 12 pm showing and a Q and A after the 2.40 screening.

The film also stars, Lainie Kazan (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”) Renee Taylor (“The Nanny”) Joe Bologna (Lover’s and Other Strangers) it is his last film and he also co wrote it. Karina Smirnoff (“Dancing with the Stars)” directed by Gabe Bologna ( Renee and Joe’s son) by the makers of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”

It is about a Hassidic Rabbi with a large family and financial problems who prays to G-d for help, God tells him he has to enter a televised Tango competition to resolve his financial issues, the only problem is he can’t touch a woman that is not his wife, so he has to go to all the other religions to ask for help.

Tango Shalom has won 18 awards at festivals around the world including an award for Best Film for Peace and Tolerance at the Aritisan International Film Initiative for Peace and Tolerance at Cannes this year. It is the first film to have a collaboration with the Vatican choir and was just recognized by Unesco.

Tango Shalom is the little film that could. Just as the Manhasset theater which as been closed for Covid is now re-opened and is the little theatre that could!
