Monday Mahjong: Mondays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; July 22, 29 and Aug. 5, 12, 19, 26. Stop by this informal gathering to play classic games. Please bring your own sets. Tea and coffee will be provided!

Bridge Buddies – Free 1 Hour Bridge Lessons: Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; July 19, 26 & Aug. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30. Join the library on Fridays for friendly social bridge (not duplicate). Learn how to play bridge the way it was taught 60 years ago, with free introductory lessons from 10 to 11 a.m. After the lesson, there will be open play until 2:30 p.m. No need to bring a partner. All are welcome.

The Bryant Library Scribes – Workshop led by Professor Jennifer Marx: Thursdays at 7 p.m.; July 18 and Aug. 8, 22. Navigating character development, infusing literary elements, and articulating a voice are among a cornucopia of strategies open for investigation and discussion during these workshops. Whether you’re in the midst of polishing a piece, starting with a fresh canvas, or wishing to engage in dialog to inspire ideas, a creative space awaits.

The Alexander Technique – Presentation by Gary Adelman: Thursday, July 18 at 1 p.m.;
Online Registration Required. Learn how to improve posture, reduce pain, de-stress, look and feel better and younger with certified Alexander technique teacher Gary Adelman. Gary has had a private practice in Alexander technique for over 25 years. He has studied the technique in Boston and Tel Aviv and taught its methods for a year at Princeton University.

Family Magic Show & Tell – Performance and lesson by Evan Kirsh: Saturday, July 20 at 3 p.m.; Online registration required. Have you ever seen a magician at a party or on TV? Are you interested in witnessing the impossible right in front of your eyes? Evan Kirsh is a 20-year-old magician who performs for audiences of all ages. A student at the University of Virginia, Evan started performing magic at the age of 7. Adults and children alike are amazed at his feats of mentalism, card tricks, and stage magic. He makes sure to have audience members frequently star in the show, providing an exciting, hands-on experience for all. All ages welcome with an adult.

Understanding Alzheimer’s & Dementia – Sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association: Tuesday, July 23 at 1 p.m.; Online Registration Required. Alzheimer’s is not a regular part of aging. It’s a disease of the brain that causes problems with memory, thinking, and behavior. Learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, disease stages and risk factors, current research and treatments available to address symptoms, and Alzheimer’s Associations resources.

Funny Fools – History of the Three Stooges, presentation by Keith Crocker: Thursday, Aug. 15; Online Registration Required. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk…you’ll start to feel slap-happy with this 90-minute program that shines light on the history of America’s favorite comedy trio, the Three Stooges. Laugh your way through 3 Three Stooges shorts, featuring Curly, Shemp and Joe Besser. Plus, biographical info as well as memorabilia related to their career will be shared.

Social Dance Class – Have the Time of Your Life! Registration Required at Reference Desk;
Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 17, 24 and Sept. 7, 14, 28. The summer social season is here and what better way to celebrate than to join a Saturday afternoon ballroom and Latin social dance class. Taught by professional ballroom dancer Donatas Nacajus, you’ll be introduced to the basics of wide range of dances including waltz, foxtrot, tango, rumba and cha cha cha. Not only will you be able to glide along the dance floor at your next social event, but dancing has been proven to provide fantastic benefits to both the mind and body. No partner or experience is necessary and the class is open to all.
