You may register for programs at hillsidelibrary.info/events. You need to have your library barcode number for registration. The library subscribes to several museum passes for the enjoyment and entertainment of our patrons, holders of Hillside Library cards in good standing. A household is able to reserve just one museum pass per month; patrons are responsible for checking the museum’s hours of operation for the borrowed pass.
The Hillside Public Library is proud to present a broad variety of world language books through the World Language Collection. Book titles are offered in a range of languages and the collection is updated during the year. Please contact the Reference Desk at (516) 355-7850 (extension 301) for further information.
The library collects used cell phones with their chargers for charity. Also, the library collects reading glasses. In addition, the library collects canned food for Island Harvest; the donations you supply help provide for those less fortunate, and we thank you.

Movie: “Overcomer” (2019) PG, 2h. Friday, Feb. 28 at 1:30 p.m. Starring Alex Kendrick, Shari Rigby, Aryn Wright-Thompson. What do you allow to define you? A basketball coach attempts to coach an asthmatic teenage girl to achieve cross country glory after the school’s basketball team program is jeopardized by the relocation of the town’s manufacturing plant.
How to Take an Amazing Interview: Tuesday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. Presented by Jamie Petrizzo, career consultant. The goal here is how to take an interview that will leave the interviewer wanting more. strongly considered. Be the best you can be, and feel confident during the interview, that you made a great impression.
“Fresh Fiction” Book Discussion: Wednesday, March 4 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The book being discussed is “The Stranger Inside” by Lisa Unger. Rain Winter survives an abduction attempt at the age of twelve, but her best friends were taken. She spends her days as a stay-at-home mom, having put aside her career as a hard-hitting journalist to care for her infant daughter. But when a brutal murderer who escaped justice is found dead, Rain is unexpectedly drawn into the case. Eerie similarities to the murder of her friends’ abductor force Rain to revisit memories she’s worked hard to leave behind.
Streaming Service or Cable: Which is Right for you? Wednesday, March 4 at 6:45 p.m. Tired of paying for tv channels that you don’t watch? Learn how to “cut the cord” and access the many different streaming services available to customers. Online registration is open.
Author Talk & Book Signing: Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m. The Library is proud to present featured author, Tom Phelan, who will be discussing his recently acclaimed book, “We Were Rich and Didn’t Know It.” The book recounts Tom’s upbringing in an isolated, rural community from the day he was delivered by the local midwife. With tears and laughter, it speaks to the strength of the human spirit in the face of life’s adversities. Online registration is open. Books will be available for purchase, $20 (cash/check). This event includes a signing by the author.
Movie: “Gemini Man” (2019) PG-13, 1h 57m. Friday, March 6 at 1:30 p.m. Starring Will Smith and Clive Owen. A retiring assassin, Henry Brogan, finds himself pursued by a mysterious killer that can predict his every move. Discovering that he’s being hunted by a younger clone of himself, Henry needs to find out why he’s being targeted.

Sunday Together Time Tales – Wild March Stories Sunday, March 1 at 1:30 p.m. “Wild” stories, songs, and a craft for kids ages: 12 months – 4 years.
Jump for Joy: Friday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. Ages: 18 months – 4 years with a parent or caregiver. Join this fun-filled movement program filled with music, parachutes, and instruments.
