Letter to My Hero

Commemorate all the brave men and women who serve our country on a daily basis. Veteran’s Day was once called Armistice Day, when all countries signed the armistice that signaled the end of World War I on Nov. 11, 1918. Kids can honor our heroes by sending special letters of thanks.

For Fans of “Wonder”

At this pre-celebration of the Nov. 17th release of the movie “Wonder,” based on the acclaimed novel of the same name and starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, and Jacob Tremblay, children ages 7 and up are encouraged to share a personal story of kindness and discuss this heartwarming story about a boy with facial differences who attends a mainstream school for the first time.

Corn Husk Figures for Teens/Tweens and Harbor Nights: Corn Husk Dolls 

Wednesday, Nov. 15, 4-5 p.m., and Thursday, Nov. 16, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Kids ages 10 and up can discover the origins of the Native American folk tale of the corn husk doll at these creative workshops where they will make their own corn husk figurines to decorate Thanksgiving tables. $12 for Nov. 15 event; $15 ($20 at the door) for Nov. 16 event.
