Peter Rabbit

Saturday, March 17 at 2 p.m. (additional show dates on March 24, April 4 and 7)

Peter Rabbit, unlike sisters Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail, is following the advice of his tummy (and his cousin, Benjamin) versus the advice of his mother.  Everyone (and we mean everyone!) knows that you stay out of Mr. McGregor’s garden.  But Peter and Benjamin still venture into a world filled with excitement, adventure, and scrumptious vegetables. The thrills are just beginning when the angry farmer spots the silly bunnies.

Claddagh Crowns

Saturday, March 17, 2 to 4 p.m.

The Claddagh ring is a traditional Irish symbol. The design on the ring includes three parts: the hands (representing friendship), the heart (representing love), and the crown (representing loyalty). On this St. Patrick’s Day, children can celebrate the unique culture of Ireland by making a Claddagh crown to wear on their head — or a beautiful token to give to a loved one. Free workshop, with museum admission.

Where: Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Ave., Garden City
Info: 516-224-5800 or licm.org

The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York

The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York fosters a community of talented young musicians from Long Island by providing them with opportunities to rehearse and perform choral and orchestral masterworks with recognized leaders in music education and performance. Since it was founded in 1993, MYO has grown from a 15-piece orchestra to seven orchestras, a flute choir, and seven choral ensembles, serving over 1,000 musicians between the ages of 8 and 18.
