Children can breeze by the inner lobby and welcome the colors of spring all month long as they create a bright and cheery banner to hang at home. This is a free, drop-in program with museum admission.

Kids’ Authors Sara Varon and John Patrick Green

Friday, March 23, 4 to 5 pm.

Kids can meet Sara Varon, author of “New Shoes,” a heartwarming graphic novel about a donkey on a quest to make the perfect pair of shoes, and John Patrick Green, author of “Hippopotamister,” about a Hippo who decides to venture outside the zoo with his friend Red Panda. The authors will read from and sign copies of their books at this special event.

Celestial Weekend

Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24, 6 to 9 p.m. (choose one 30-minute session as listed on the venue website)

Families can explore the universe in a fascinating digital display inside the inflatable Starlab Planetarium in Castle Gould, where they will discover the planets and moons that comprise our solar system, and watch for comets, asteroids, and meteor showers.

“RCP Xanadu!”

The Royal Crown Players present this Tony Award-nominated, roller-skating musical adventure about following your dreams that rolls along to the original hit score from the cult classic movie of the same title. Following the journey of a magical Greek muse who descends from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, “RCP Xanadu” is hilarity on wheels.

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical”

Sunday, March 25 at 2 p.m.

Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school… again. And that’s the least of his troubles. Zeus’s master lightning bolt has been stolen and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has ten days to find and return Zeus’s stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus in this musical adapted from the bestselling book, “The Lightning Thief,” by Rick Riordan.
