The seventh edition of First Look, the museum’s acclaimed festival of international cinema, returns and includes more than two dozen programs with innovative films that include: “Communion” (Jan. 6 at 5 p.m.), a complex, cinematic portrait of young womanhood (Polish, with English subtitles); an Indonesian western, “Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts” (Jan. 6 at 7 p.m.); and “Colo” (Jan. 7 at 1 p.m.), about a family dealing with financial hardships and seismic changes (Portuguese with English subtitles).

3 Cross-country Skiing in the Park

Now that snow has fallen, learn to cross-country ski right here on Long Island. You will learn basic walking, turning and secret tips on how to go fast when you’re ready. Not only will you receive a refreshing, outdoor workout, but you can also enjoy the winter views in Heckscher Park, considered by many to be the “Central Park” of the North Shore. 6 Gold Coast Arts Center Presents: “Ben-Gurion Epilogue”
