This year’s Israelfest, the largest community celebration of Israel on Long Island, will include a variety of fun, cultural and educational activities.

The event will take place Sunday, May 7, from 12:00-4:00 p.m, at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington.

This year’s activities will include kite making and flying, pita making, henna tattooing and Krav Maga lessons.

Guests can enjoy designing their own Hebrew necklace in addition to backgammon and Kadima on the beach.

The day will also feature the singing of the Hatikvah — Israel’s national anthem — as well as a special appearance by Consul General of Israel in New York, Dani Dayan.

Israelfest is a collaboration of UJA-Federation of New York, Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center and more than 20 partner synagogues, Jewish educational institutions and Jewish youth organizations from across Long Island.

This year’s event welcomes new sponsors TD Bank and Fairway Market.

Admission and parking is free. Kosher food and Israeli products will be sold by vendors. North Hempstead Beach Park is located at 175 West Shore Road in Port Washington. For more information, visit www.sjjcc.org.
