Kids are in for Halloween fun at LICM’s Ghostly Gala

The Island Now

Long Island Children’s Museum will be a center of ghostly delights as it offers plenty of Halloween fun to an audience of action heroes, ballerinas, clowns, fairy princesses, soldiers, witches and more costume-clad visitors.

Since Halloween is almost here, Long Island Children’s Museum is gearing up for their 16th annual Ghostly Gala. The after-hours event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Kids and adults, too, are encouraged to wear creative and dazzling costumes and celebrate Halloween in a fun, safe and spooky (but not scary) way.

The museum will provide materials to create a “Beware” treat bag that guests can use as they trick-or-treat throughout the night.

The mood will be set with creepy music throughout the museum, and activities will include face painting and craft projects including Frankenstein puppets, glowing ghosts and spooky spider necklaces.

LICM Ghostly Creepy Crawler Cave

There will also be a Creepy Crawly Cave to touch and feel different creepy items — in the dark — and stations to decorate a Dracula’s denture cookie and then enjoy this special treat.

Ghostly Gala visitors will get a boo-tiful welcome from popular comic book superheroes.  Characters have been provided by EternalCon, Long Island’s large-scale, multimedia pop culture convention (www.eternalcon.com).

More Halloween fun will be available in the LICM Theater, with special performances of “Minkie’s Halloween Hoopla” by A Couple of Puppets. Showtimes are 6:15, 7, 7:45 and 8:30 p.m. Tickets are required for the puppet show and are priced at $4 ($3 for museum members) with Ghostly Gala admission.

Tickets for the Ghostly Gala are $11 per person ($9 for LICM members). Advanced ticketing is strongly suggested for this popular event. Tickets may be purchased online at www.licm.org/ghostly  or at the Museum box office.

The Long Island Children’s Museum is located at 11 Davis Ave. in Garden City.
