Lidia Bastianich cookbook shares Italian recipes for entertaining

The Island Now

No one throws a party like celebrity chef, television host, author and restaurateur Lidia Bastianich.

And now in her new book, “Lidia’s Celebrate Like An Italian: 220 Foolproof Recipes That Make Every Meal a Party,” which she co-wrote with her daughter, Tanya Bastianich Manuali, she shares recipes for entertaining with her distinctive Bastianich flare.

From pear Bellinis to carrot and chickpea dip, and from campanelle with fennel and shrimp to berry tiramisu, the book includes dishes that guests will love, no matter the occasion.

Here, too, are Bastianich’s suggestions for hosting a BBQ, making pizza for a group, choosing the perfect wine, setting an inviting table, and much more.

Beautifully illustrated throughout with full-color photographs and filled with her trademark warmth and enthusiasm, this is Bastianich’s most festive book.

Whether you’re planning a romantic picnic for two, a child’s birthday party, a holiday gathering, or a simple weeknight family dinner, Bastianich’s flavorful, easy-to-follow recipes and advice will have you calling to your guests, “Tutti a tavola a mangiare!”

Fans will have an opportunity to meet Bastianich at a special event on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Barnes and Noble located at 91 Old Country Road in Carle Place.

Bastianich has been a regular contributor to public television cooking shows since 1998. In 2014, she launched her fifth TV series, “Lidia’s Kitchen.”  She owns several Italian restaurants in the U.S. in partnership with her daughter and son, Joe Bastianich, including Felidia, Del Posto, Esca, and Becco in Manhattan.
