North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and members of the town board announced that “North Hempstead Night” will be celebrated at the Long Island Nets game on Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. at NYCB Live, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Since the Nets were established in 2016, they have been committed partners of the Town of North Hempstead. Last year, the team purchased a new scoreboard and shot-clocks for the Yes We Can Community Center’s basketball court.

The Nets have also been generous throughout the year by providing giveaways at town events and provided a permanent live Christmas tree outside the community center for holiday celebrations. Previously, the town partnered with the Nets for a back-to-school “Stuff-A-Bus” campaign in collaboration with United Way of Long Island to collect back to school supplies for low-income families throughout Nassau County. Additionally, the Nets have donated items for North Hempstead’s annual Veterans Donation Drive, which collects items for veterans at the Northport VA Hospital.

During the game, the Nets will recognize Sharon Earley Davis, a Fort Totten native, as the “Veteran of the Game.” A veteran of the Gulf Wars, Sgt. First Class Davis served in the United States Reserves for upwards of 20 years as a supply specialist. She retired from service in 2004 but remains active in the military as a member of the Elmont American Legion where she currently holds the position of financial officer.

Residents of North Hempstead will receive two free ticket vouchers in the mail from the Long Island Nets that can be redeemed online or at the NYCB LIVE box office. For more information, please call 311.
