Make your holidays ‘farm-tastic’ at the Queens County Museum

The Island Now

The Queens County Farm Museum will be hosting a free holiday open house on Dec. 26 through 28 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The open house will feature kids crafts, a historic house tour of the 17th-century Adriance Farmhouse, hot cocoa, mulled cider and snacks.

If you’re bundled up, you can take a stroll on the farm’s grounds and meet the steers Jethro and Dexter and the alpacas Giorgio and Rocky.  You can also take a peek at the dormant growing fields to imagine what goodies the spring planting season will bring.

No advance registration is necessary and walk-ins are welcome. Simply stop into the farm’s gift shop to sign-up when you arrive.

“The Adriance Farmhouse began as a family homestead when it was built in 1772 so it’s particularly nice to welcome our community to visit us here during the holidays,” said Jennifer Walden Weprin, executive director of the Queens County Farm Museum.  “The roaring fire in the original fireplace really sets the mood for a cozy day with friends and family down on the farm.”

The Queens County Farm Museum is located at 73-50 Little Neck Parkway in Floral Park. For more information, go to queensfarm.org.
