October shows at Landmark on Main

The Island Now

Picking up where they left off at the close of summer, Landmark on Main Street has a stellar lineup of musicians, comedians and other performers scheduled to take the Jeanne Rimsky Theater stage in October.

Here is a preview:

TUSK, The Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute, kicks off on Friday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m.

The band’s note-for-note re-creation of the music of the iconic quartet will have you on your feet and singing along. You’ll swear they are channeling the originals.

Manhattan Comedy Night returns on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m.

Veteran comic Sandy Marks hosts an evening of stand-ups straight from the NYC comedy clubs. The show makes the perfect date night or moms’/dads’ night out.

JJ Grey’s solo tour makes its only Long Island stop on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m.

Bluegrass meets blue collar with all of the fierceness and intimacy that defines a Grey live performance. Special guest Clarence Bucaro of Passionate Kind opens the show.

Poco mixes the old and the new on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.

The band’s distinctive harmonies and stellar musicianship helped define the sound of country-rock.

Now after 50 years, founder Rusty Young says this is “a band reborn.”

Critics agree — hearing Poco today, it’s the sound of a legendary band once again hitting its stride.

Bobby Conte Thornton will sing “Blame it on My Youth” on Friday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m.

The recent star of “A Bronx Tale” brings his highly acclaimed cabaret act back home.

Conte’s grandparents, Helen and Tom Conte, are longtime Manhasset residents.

Conte’s special guest, “A Bronx Tale” creator Chazz Palminteri, will join him on stage.

Parsonsfield & Sawyer Fredericks round out the month on Friday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.

Parsonsfield, the western Massachusetts-based quintet praised for making “the most jubilant and danceable indie roots music this side of the Carolinas” (NPR), double-bills with Sawyer Fredericks.

The 19-year old Fredericks is an authentic and original Americana artist with an old soul.

His deep, beyond-his-years lyrics and melodies, raw, soulful vocals, and powerful live performances took him to the top spot on season 8 of NBC’s “The Voice.”

At the Parsonsfield & Sawyer Fredericks concert, Landmark will recognize Props to Port Teens from the town who are carrying on the great Port tradition of activism and community service.

Teens, adults, teachers and others in the community are being asked to nominate middle and high school students.

Tickets for all shows are available through Landmark’s Box Office, 516-767-6444, and online at www.landmarkonmainstreet.org.
